Common Breast Lift Questions at Plastic Surgery Arts of New Jersey
What is the best way to minimize breast lift scars?
Breast lift scars are a major area of concern for women considering the procedure. The scars can often take several months, up to even a year to reach their final appearance. However there are several methods that can utilized in helping to minimize the breast lift scarring, and some these include silicone sheeting, silicone based gels, intense pulse light, taping the scars, bleaching creams, and topical steroids.
What is the recovery time for a breast lift (mastopexy)?
You may feel moderate pain the first week after a breast lift procedure, which is alleviated with pain medication. The recovery time for a breast lift procedure is usually just a few days.
When can I return to work after the breast lift? And start exercising again?
Most patients return to work within a week’s time. You can start walking around as soon as you are comfortable after the breast lift procedure. Avoid placing your arms above your head or lifting any heavy objects. Light exercise and moderate workouts can be considered after 3-4 weeks. Difficult workouts should be avoided for a full month. Always consult with your physician before starting an exercise program, as recovery times vary per patient.
